Questions
BEFORE YOU BOOK
Everything you want to know before your first session and some things you didn't know to ask. If your question isn't here, call or contact us directly.
01
Booking & Scheduling
-
You can book directly online through Fresha, which handles scheduling for all services including bodywork and fitness training. You can also call or text at 831-204-0820.
If you're unsure which service or session length is right for you, reach out first and we can talk through it before you book.
-
Selina works with a limited number of clients by design. Availability can fill quickly, particularly for 90-minute and 120-minute sessions. Booking a week or more in advance is recommended for regular clients. For first-time visits, booking 1–2 weeks out gives you the best selection of available times.
-
Yes. If no times are available that work for you, contact us to be added to the waitlist for cancellations. Fresha also sends notifications when new availability opens if you've had a previous booking.
-
For a first session, 90 minutes is the most common choice, it allows adequate time for the intake conversation, assessment, and actual treatment without feeling rushed. Sixty minutes is a reasonable starting point for relaxation-focused sessions or those with straightforward goals. The 120-minute session is best suited for clients who want deep structural work, have complex histories, or are regulars who want more time.
For fitness training, all sessions are one hour.
02
Sessions & Preparation
-
First sessions begin with a brief intake, Selina will ask about your history, areas of concern, current activity level, and what you're hoping to get out of the session. This isn't a form to fill out; it's a real conversation. Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to allow time for this before your session officially begins.
From there, she will observe your posture and movement before the session starts, then tailor the work specifically to what she finds. Nothing is preset.
-
Drink water before you come in. Avoid eating a heavy meal in the hour before your session. Arrive in comfortable clothing you can easily remove. If you have any recent labs, imaging results, or documentation from other practitioners that's relevant to why you're coming in, feel free to bring it.
Most importantly: come with an honest picture of what's going on in your body. The more accurate the information Selina starts with, the more effective the session.
-
Only to your comfort level. You will be professionally draped at all times, and only the area being worked on will be uncovered. If you prefer to stay fully clothed for any reason, that can be accommodated, some modalities work effectively through light clothing. Please communicate your preferences before the session begins.
-
This depends entirely on your goals and what's going on in your body. For clients working through chronic tension or recovering from injury, more frequent sessions, weekly or every two weeks, will produce faster results. For maintenance and general wellbeing, monthly is a common rhythm. Selina will make a specific recommendation at the end of your first session based on what she observes.
03
Bodywork Services
-
In practice, Selina rarely limits a session to a single style. Most sessions draw from multiple modalities based on what the body needs that day. If you have a specific goal, chronic pain, stress reduction, structural realignment, post-injury recovery, that is more useful information than trying to pick a style in advance.
If you genuinely want to experience a specific modality (Esalen-style, structural integration, meditative massage), you can request that when booking and she'll design the session around it.
-
Yes — this is a significant part of the practice. Selina regularly works with clients experiencing chronic tension, movement restrictions, post-surgical recovery, nerve impingement, rotator cuff issues, and conditions that haven't fully resolved through other means. Sessions are always adapted to your specific situation and comfort level.
If you have a complex or recent medical history, a brief phone conversation before booking may be helpful to make sure the session is appropriately structured.
-
Bodywork sessions are priced at $180 for 60 minutes, $220 for 90 minutes, and $340 for 120 minutes. All sessions are performed exclusively by Selina, there are no other therapists at this practice.
Specialized fitness training sessions are $200 per hour.
04
Specialized Fitness Training
-
Mature adults, people with injury histories or biomechanical concerns, seniors, and absolute beginners who want to build real strength, stability, and balance with someone who understands how to do it safely. Open to both men and women.
This is not a general fitness program. It is not designed for athletic performance training, high-intensity workouts, or clients without specific concerns or goals related to longevity and movement quality.
-
The first session includes a comprehensive movement assessment—posture, gait, joint mobility, muscle imbalances, and functional movement patterns. No programming begins until Selina has a clear picture of where your body actually is, not where you think it is. The assessment is included in the session fee.
You will leave the first session with a clear understanding of what your body needs and a plan for how to get there.
-
All fitness training sessions are conducted in-studio at 620 Lighthouse Avenue, Suite 165, Pacific Grove. This allows Selina to work with you in a properly equipped space and maintain the quality and focus each session requires.
-
Most personal trainers learn anatomy from textbooks and apply standard programming templates. Selina has spent over 23 years working hands-on with thousands of bodies, she knows where tension accumulates, how compensation patterns develop, and what breaks down under load. That clinical knowledge directly shapes how she programs, cues, and progresses every client.
She also works with a deliberately small number of fitness clients so that each person receives genuine individual attention, not a modified group workout.
